One Piece 822: Goodbye Zou!

One Piece 822

Welcome back One Piece fans to another exciting chapter, and the final chapter of the Zou arc!  The Mink are wonderful contributes to the plot of the story, and I would like to give a shout out to Father Yoma for offering his services for Luffy. So without further ado, lets review!

Positives:

Nice way to wrap up an excellent transition arc, and also a wonderful way to wrap up the best arc post time skip to date. I really love the Mink loyalty to there friends, and mates. Even though Pekoms is a notorious pirate he is still respected by his people, and they all want to go save Sanji. It something to respect out of the Mink. Love how the groups are formed. Nekomamushi  is going after Marco. Inuarashi, and Momo are staying on Zou to unearth secrets. Luffy, Pekoms, and Swirly Hats are going to retrieve Sanji, and finally the group that will divide the fanboys for years to come. Kine’Mon, Law and Zoro. Yes the fanboys will forever argue whenever Usopp or Kine’Mon is the better looking and powerful but moving on.

Negatives:

I think Zou moved at a good pace, but I felt some characterization for Pedro was needed in order to make his impact coming to be better.  I really wanted to see more fights. The long explanation of which groups are doing what was explained a couple chapters ago so the parts of the chapter were redundant.

Theory time:

We didn’t see Carrot at all in this chapter despite her having more screentime that most of the mink. Hell we know more about her than Pedro.  Her wanting to come would have made more sense, so I’m expecting her to sneak on board for the Big Mom trip.  Another theory is that I’m expecting Pedro to be in cahoots with the underground, I’m thinking he sold out his clan to Kaidou on information about Zou. That is the reason Jack has found Zou atleast two times which is an always moving country. I also think he plans to sell the SH’s whereabouts. Just a hunch though.

Overall I give this chapter an 7/10 not the best Zou arc chapter, but it was a nice way to send us out. Thank you for reading, I’m thinking about updating the blog site so if you have any suggestions please let me know.  I also made a twitter I will post a link to it. Thank you so much for reading, and enjoy your day!

One Piece 821: An Elephant never forgets

One Piece 821

Welcome Back One Piece fans I know it has been a long long time, but I am back. This time I’m going to start off with an article about Elephants! Without further ado lets review!

Positives:

One Piece is possibly in one its prime moments. Zou has been nothing but star packed information, character development, and action that makes the One Piece fans salivate for what One Piece used to be preskip. One amazing rides! While part two has been nothing but peaks and valleys, Zou reminds us what we were promised back at the beginning of part two, Adventure. I’m really liking the VOAT ability that at first I was upset because I thought only Luffy, and Roger had it, but finding out Momo had it, and can control creatures with it makes me realize that Luffy isn’t the chosen one that I fear him being. The double page with Zou attacking was breathtaking, and it makes me wonder if this really is just a transition arc. Even though it’s a transition arc, it is still leaps and bounds better than Dressrosa.

Negatives:

I personally didn’t like how Jack was taken down. I want the Calamities to be much more than just the suites in Do flamingo’s crew, I want them to be real powerhouses, and not just hype tools. I get it Jack couldn’t beat Zou on sea or possibly even land, but that still shouldn’t have used Jack as just a hyped tool! Jack should have somehow escaped the swing if anything, and not be used for a worthless cool moment.

I give this chapter an 8/10 nice climax to an arc that brought joy back to One Piece after many years!

Toriko 361: Can Openers > Toriko

Toriko 361

Welcome back to another chapter of Toriko! Today we learned that your mothers can opener, is more powerful than continental destroying beings! Way to go powerscaling! Without further redo, lets review!

Positives:

It was nice to see the hype for the demons. It was due, and given time we see the limitless potential for the 4 heavenly kings! I’m also likeing the humor with the eating everything around. Another is so powerful it basically makes anything a walking powerup for your gourmet cells. Also thought it was really well drawn with Coco’s demon. However…

Negatives:

Did we really offpanel one of Toriko’s full courses? Seriously why would we do that he’s not just an important character, he is the freaking main character?  Why do they need a can opener to open the dish? Toriko literally just got done cutting a continent! It seems stupid honestly. Also why didn’t we talk about Starjyuun’s demon? He’s there, and it is powerful. Seems like a waste not to talk about his. I don’t know if the pacing from the past couple of chapters made me upset with the series. However I just can’t stand the series pacing. Please this arc, spread it out. So everything that comes in can be less poppycock, and more well story driven. Granted Toriko’s never been amazing about its story but still. Stop cutting out story elements, and just slapping them in to cover the plot holes please!

I give this chapter a 6/10. It would have been higher if it wasn’t revealed we skipped over the main characters goal! Please if the series is ending, please let the last arc be stretched out!

One Piece 818:After 818 chapters, our first clue to get to Raftel!

One Piece 818

Welcome back One Piece fans, and welcome to another exciting if not one of the most important chapters possibly in One Piece history! With my new schedule I can now do the blogs on time, and without further ado! Let’s do review!

Positives:

Where to start with this freaking amazing chapter. First lets have a shout-out to Oda for not totally teasing us throughout the entire chapter! I love how he set up two possible routes to get excited for! One is Big Mom’s tea party, and we all want to go and see Sanji and Jimbei, and also want to see Daddy Vinsmoke, and see what the hell Big Mom is up too. This arc would have the possibility of madness because we have no idea what will go right, or what will go wrong at the tea party. Plus Sanji’s backstory will be further expounded on. Get to see Jimbei’s poneglyph, and hopefully get to see a little bit of Big Mom and her crew’s dynamic. So many possibilities alone you can’t help but be excited for the Tea Par….well hello Wanokuni! This arc has just as many possibilities as you have Kaidou, and his crews dynamic. The Samurai’s plot. A possible Mink vs Samurai war. Huge reveals relative to the history of the world, and new secrets to Raftel. Some Zoro development. So many things going on that I am excited for both arcs! Now back to the chapter I’m surprised that Momo’s father is so important. I knew being a lord was going to give this man some power, but having direct ties to the poneglyphs, and being apart of Roger’s crew? How amazing was this guy? Shogun and Kaidou formed an alliance?  Why? When? What does Wano have to gain from Kaidou and vice versa? Finally my favorite part about this chapter was the reveal that the 4 road poneglyphs will lead you to the One Piece! For years we have all been wondering where the hell is One Piece, and what is stopping people from getting to it? Well now we know that you need 4 road poneglyph to get to the island that everyone wants to get to. To make matters worse, Kaidou, and Big Mom each have their own poneglyph. So that means in order to get to Raftel, our heros will have to face both Big Mom and Kaidou sometime soon just to get the hints. Even though if they get the stones, other pirates will be going after the SH’s. To make matters even better we do not know where the 4th one is! Does the World Government have it? Does some secret organization have it like Germa 66, and that is why they are aligning themselves with Big Mom? This chapter answered many questions, but it also raised so many. This chapter was only made better by the happinest of Luffy that his goal has a clear path insight for him. We care about the Mink, Sanji, the Samurai, so all future plot holes that are opened up we care about!

Negatives:

I wish that Robin was the one that gave us most of this information since she just got done decoding it. Maybe next time since we have the basic information needed!

I give this chapter a 9/10! Excellent! The only thing that would make this chapter better if there was some kind of big ass feat performed. Then it would have been a perfect 10/10. This chapter have characterization, world building, plot moving. Everything you want in a series especially a series as beloved as One Piece. Until next time!

The Seven Deadly Sins 164: Everyone knows Merlin is the best girl!

The Seven Deadly Sins 164

Welcome back NNT/SDS fans! I know it seems like I’m neglecting this series in favor or Toriko, Bleach, and One Piece. However it is much harder to review this series because of the different release date! However; I think I now found the perfect schedule to do all the reviews so without further ado, lets review!

Positives:

One of the things I like about SDS, is that the pairings are well known from the get go. It is not like Naruto where we had to wait till the very end to see where everything came out too for the lovely couples. That being said I’m liking the argument between Mel, and Ban because it is something I feel like they would argue all the time about, and it just keeps encouraging the feel the Ban x Mel is the real relationship. The chapter was comical because of it, and the art was just amazing when you can see all the different actions coinciding together to make the perfect flow. SDS again shines with the perfect spreads that just seem cool, and pretty much proves that SDS will not get beat in the panel competition anytime soon. That being said.

Seven Deadly Sins 164 part 2

With Elaine being back we all know why he doesn’t need the hand….

Negatives:

I like Ban, and I like Mel. I also like Elaine, and so-so on Elizabeth. I do not however want an entire chapter dedicating both pairs down my throat. Am I the only one that cringed a little when he saw the cover of the chapter? I mean really yes the chapter had its charm, but all the tension I had before the previous chapters are almost gone because I had to sit through and read through this. I love when Ban and Mel are messing around. However please I want to see something more series to continue the tension. It doesn’t help that next chapter King and Diane already start with another gag induced chapter. Please for the love of God bring back the tension. Chapter would have been much better if placed later.

Overall I rate the chapter a 7/10. It was a good chapter. I was happy with the Ban and Mel moment, but I couldn’t truly enjoy it because it was mostly a pairing moment. Next week I predict Diane gets hurt, and the King goes and destroys the fakes.

Until next time.

Toriko: February Month Review!

February Reviews:

Toriko

Welcome Toriko fans, and Outskirts Battledome fanatics welcome to the first publication of the OBD newsletter, and the first monthly review of some of your favorite series! Toriko! Toriko this month has been under lots of scrutiny because in the month of February Toriko has delivered any of its usual Toriko goodness, and it makes some hardcore Toriko fans like myself wondering why it is not delivering on the things it has done in previous issues. Is the series being rushed due to poor sales? Does Shima still care about the series? What the hell is with the pacing and skipping character dreams, and idealizations that we are skipping over?

However in the awful month of February we got some good chapters, and some good scenes. Neo was threatening and basically just a miniature creepy looking Galactus looking to eat planets all over the universe. To the point of hunting down the creature to make it’s Gourmet cells perfect for eating, and tenderizing on the grill.

We also got an amazing flashback involving Don Slime, and Ichiryyuu where we, finally, actually got character development for characters in a Toriko series!

Neo's face

Does this make the fans like them more? I would hope so, but it’s Toriko so we already liked them because those planet busting feats!

However we skipped over details like capturing the Kings dream goals, and we get more bullshit Komatsu, and Toriko embracing their homosexual love for each other to the point where it’ll be called Toriko x Komatsu by the end of the series run. (Maybe this is the new manga Shima wants.)

All in all I rate these batch of chapters a 7/10. It’s only saving grace was Neo’s and Don’s flashback. Hopefully next month we go back to the Toriko chapter we love so dearly!

OBD Power level update- The only thing to really new here is that Don Slime can apparently destroy two planets in a single punch, and he can also send down planet busting meteors from space. There is talk about Neo surviving some kind of Black hole, but that’s still under some debate. While Toriko didn’t jump leaps in bounds in the power scaling, it did make firmly nest itself in the planet level room. Something even Whitebeard wants to get at.

Dragon Ball Super 9: Is the Saiyan Blue or Gold?

Dragon Ball super 9

Welcome back Dragon Ball fans! Is the dress.. I mean Saiyan blue or gold? No one really knows, but we sure as hell know Frieza, I mean Frost is blue know! Lets get into it shall we?

Positives:

It’s classic Dragon Ball where the fights are just too fast for a Master like Roshi to see! Let’s forget though he stopped being able to see Goku’s punches pre 22nd Budokai, but that is here nor there. God Mode Roshi incoming?  Seeing Piccolo, and Vegeta come up with strategies to beat Bototamo, only to have Goku come up with the simplest one was hilarious because it further proves Goku far surpassed them a long time ago. I love how big the Dragon Ball universe is, and seeing all different types of creatures, and characters in it makes me appreciate the tournament because its looking into different species. However that being said-

Negatives:

I love the ideal of multiple universes, hell I loved it in Dragon Ball Multiverse. However I don’t really like the fact that besides the personality change, and a different  color scheme. Frost is basically Frieza. At most I was hoping Frost to have his forms be a little different, or at most I was hoping Frost would have at least been as strong as Golden Frieza. Even though Gold Frieza isn’t really a form of Frieza, just something Frieza added to his final form. If Frost was this week, why not let Piccolo handle the job? Oh I know because God Mode Piccolo is coming! All will be forgiven with God Mode Piccolo.  Now time to wait another month to wait for the perfect Piccolo moment to be just as powerful as Goku and Vegeta. 😉

I give this chapter a 7/10 it had good action and some comedy parts, but I’m truly waiting for the moments when Dragon Ball super has iconic moments for the series. It seems to be coming up soon. Until next time!

Bleach 664: No Gods here, just the God Killer (Urahara’s Bankai)

Bleach 664

Welcome back Bleach fans, I know I missed a couple weeks but I made it back to to Urahara’s freaking BANKAI!!!!!! I’m so excited, move over Shunsui, Yammamoto, Kenpachi, Rukia. This is the real bankai I’ve been waiting for! I’ve always felt Urahara was one of the strongest, if not the strongest person in Bleach. Urahara will not be stronger than Yawch but he’ll stomp all his fodder.

Positives:

What’s not to like about this Bleach chapter? It gave you tension that normal Bleach chapters wouldn’t give you. You always know the Shinigami are going to win, but you didn’t expect Yoiruichi to lose so early in the game. You expected finally Ask to be knocked out of the fight, but when he came back it was tension because she was one of the strongest fighters in Bleach in her strongest form.  When you saw Urahara come in you knew something was going to go down because he has never failed to entertain in any of his appearances! When Ask was talking about how unbeatable his power is, it let fans wondering what the hell was going to happen, and then bam! BANKAI! A Bankai, that many fans wanted to see the most in the series (not Kenpachi’s included). I wonder what it does, and how powerful it is, however I have to freaking wait to see the glory of one of my favorites. Kiskue Urahara!

Negatives:

A typical Bleach chapter where the villain rambles on about his abilities and brags to his opponent how unbeatable he is, only for someone unleash a new technique that just happens to counter it so perfectly.  However who cares it’s Urahara and hes’s awesome!

I give this chapter an 8/10, it was great for me, and it could only get better if I saw his Bankai in action! I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Bleach is the one I’m excited for the most the next chapter!

Toriko 360 Don Slime > Madara, and Fujitora

Toriko 360

Hello! Toriko fans welcome back, I know I missed last week with the awesome flashback, but now I’m back now to do this Toriko chapter!

Positives:

The battle between Don Slime, and Neo is really going good so far from what we have seen. The meteor going down was one of those epic Toriko moments that you don’t want to end. Another planet busting techniques are usually cool, and I can’t wait to see a planet actually get destroyed on panel!

Negatives:

I honestly don’t like that we are rushing every single chapter makes the story any interesting. We are skipping around every fight and character development, and plot point that I didn’t even care about the Kings eating their dream ingredients. It would have been much more satisfying if we saw them get the food, but nope it is more of a slap to the face than anything else. I’ve never been a fan of Komatsu having everything coming to him. Oh come to a continent with thousands of Islands that you have to search through, no problem I see Toriko right there? The adventure in the series no longer there, and I understand Toriko isn’t that popular in Japan. However it will never be if it keeps going like this.

I give this chapter a 4/10. not satisfying for me, and I hope that the pacing slows down pretty soon. Next week I predict a single page of fights, and then back to characters we are suppose to care about.

One Piece 817: When it comes to girls, I’m similar to Raizou!

One Piece 817

Welcome back One Piece fans! After a long week break, Zou is back, and it keeps getting better, and better! Today I had a really heartfelt moment for Raizou for I too, don’t have Kunoichi look my way! In any case lets move on!

Positives:

While everyone wants to say Raizou was a homage to the “Naruto” ninjas, no it was not. Clone jujitsu, the hand signals, the elements, those all came from Ninjas of folklore. I know that may make some Naruto fans butthurt, but that is just the truth of it. However; Raizou is definitely a homage to Jiriya the Ero sage from “Naruto”. Which is awesome because Jiriya is one of my favorite characters from Naruto. Moving on, I really liked the information dump in this chapter. I want to know more about the red poneglyph, and see what hints of history it can give us! Adds more to the story on a plot that really needs more to be expounded on.  Kine’Mon and Momonsuke not being father, and son was expected as I was predicting back ever since Do flamingo wanted Momo as his trump card. The humor in this chapter was typical One Piece humor in a good way, I was rolling when the boys though it was a huge let down, when Zoro wanted him to kill himself, and Raizou was admitting to his love life. The Kouzuki family must be really powerful to have two leaders of Zou be their retainer, can’t wait to see Oden, which makes me think of Odin from Norse Mythology.

Negatives:

I didn’t like the fact that Nekomushashi, and Inuarashi made up so fast on a truce.  Why bring in that plot element for a potential plot runner be brought down so fast? I’m not saying they need to straight up duke it out, but the problem the two have can’t be that big of a deal if they can call a truce so easily.  The chapter was a good chapter, but with so much going on with Jack, and Big Mom, and more importantly on Sanji, I wish we could rush through chapters like these.  Sorely because I feel like we have more important matters to get too, but I’m just a stick in the mud. Also what was the point of only showing one page of Jack? I much rather have a chapter dedicated to him, and how his confrontation with Fujitora and Sengoku went. It is a more impressive feat than beating both the Dukes.

All in all I give this chapter a 8/10. Really well chapter, and Zou continues to impress every week with the characters it brings to the table. Next week I expect more information dump regarding the ponyglyph.

One Piece 817 part 2
